Revolt after Melbourne council pushes bin collection from weekly to fortnightly

A council in Melbourne's outer-east is facing pressure from within to go back to weekly general rubbish pick-up after ratepayers complained about overflowing bins.

Knox council made the change in July last year, blaming the rising costs of waste disposal.

But local councilor Darren Pearce says reverting back to weekly would only cost ratepayers "10 cents a day".
