Graham Potter fronts Melbourne Court after 12 years on the run

One of the country's most wanted fugitives, who evaded capture for more than a decade by allegedly changing his identity and appearance with wigs and fat suits, has been remanded in custody in Melbourne.

Graham Gene Potter had been wanted by police since February 2010, when he failed to appear at the Melbourne Magistrates' Court to front conspiracy to murder charges.

He is believed to have spent most of the time since keeping a low profile in Far North Queensland.
